Painting began for Joanna at a very early age, and her determination, perseverance, and passion for art has resulted in a successful career.
At 16, Joanna had her first successful exhibition which was subsequently followed by several commissioned works. This lead to the invitation to sell her work in two design stores in the Bay of Islands area of New Zealand, where Joanna calls home. In 2003, Joanna ventured to Switzerland, and in that time exhibited her works successfully, selling everything she produced.
In New Zealand, she now continues to paint prolifically, and has opened her own exclusive gallery and studio in the town of Kerikeri (Bay of Islands), with the intention of also exhibiting and selling throughout New Zealand and overseas.
Over a number of years, Joanna’s love of buildings has evolved into the surreal style it is today. She enhances the building’s character using emotion and light for impact. Her works are imaginative, provocative, colorful, whimsical, and reflect the extraordinary New Zealand landscape and culture.
Early on, she developed a technique consisting of oil painted on a textured clay surface, but has since changed to the use of acrylics. By continually extending her style and technique, Joanna is confident and enthusiastic about the future of her exciting art career.
